IVECO BUS has won the tender to which it responded last October for the delivery of 61 Crossway to the ARST company of Nuoro, Sardinia. The Crossway is the ideal choice for passenger transportation over short and medium distances.
The official delivery of the 61 Crossway to ARST took place at the Pratosardo facility in Nuoro, in the presence of the company’s General Management, namely Mr. Chicco Porcu, Sole Administrator, Mr. Andrea Soddu, the Mayor of Nuoro, Mr. Carlo Careddu, the Sardinian Regional Transportation Advisor, Mr. Davide Pollano, IVECO BUS’ Southern Europe Business Director, and Mr. Marcello Zanella, the Delegated Administrator of IVECO ACENTRO, the local dealer who oversaw the preparation and delivery of the vehicles.
The tender procedure, launched in July 2017, concerned 61 Crossway in two different versions: 28 ten metre long units and 33 twelve metre long units.
This acquisition is part of a broader vehicle renewal process initiated by ARST, the largest short-distance passenger transportation company in Sardinia and one of the largest in the country, which is mainly responsible for suburban transportation but also provides urban services for the cities of Alghero, Carbonia, Iglesias, Macomer and Oristano. This order is the result of a joint venture between ARST and 15 other transportation companies in the region.
These Crossway possess a series of innovative characteristics that improve on-board comfort and safety: a hydraulic platform to facilitate access for persons with reduced mobility, an automatic fire-fighting system, a video surveillance system, passenger counters, surveillance cameras, route indicators and reclining seats made from vandal-resistant cloth.
A series of driver assistance systems and a driving station designed to meet the strictest ergonomic standards have also been developed to improve the driver’s comfort.
Equipped with a Euro 6 320 hp Tector 7 engine and a ZF Ecolife gearbox, they guarantee excellent performance, fuel efficiency and longer maintenance intervals thanks to the HI-SCR exhaust after treatment system with a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
This new victory underscores the leadership status that the intercity bus range has gradually acquired in Europe thanks to its reliability and low operating cost.
