New Wire Rope Replacement Intervals

New Wire Rope Replacement Intervals

JLG has extended mandatory wire rope and sheave replacement intervals from 8 to 12 years, as long as the total number of hours of the machine does not exceed 7,000 hours. The extended intervals apply to the following JLG arm lift platforms available worldwide: 600S, 600SJ, 600SC, 600SJC, 601S, 660SJ, 660SJC, 680S, 800S, 810SJ, 860SJ, 1100S, 1100SB, 1100SJP, 1200SJP, 1350SJP, 1500SJ, and 1850SJ.

Mandatory wire rope and sheave replacement intervals have been extended from 8 to 12 years, provided the total number of machine hours does not exceed 7,000. For select machines, this means a significant savings for fleet owners.

Over the typical life cycle of a machine, this means more uptime and a potentially higher resale value when owners replenish their fleets.

To receive the maximum return on this change, keep the following in mind:

  • The new wire rope replacement interval is 12 years, or 7,000 machine hours.
  • The affected JLG boom lift models are 600S, 600SJ, 600SC, 600SJC, 601S, 660SJ, 660SJC, 680S, 800S, 810SJ, 860SJ, 1200SJP, 1350SJP, 1500SJ and 1850SJ.

Paul Kreutzwiser, world-class director of JLG Industries for aerial work platforms, said that typical replacement wire rope jobs can cost fleet owners thousands of dollars per job. He added that, by increasing the duration of the replacement interval, they reduce your maintenance costs and contribute to lower total cost of ownership.

These larger replacement intervals, can increase rental revenue by keeping the arm elevating platforms in service for longer periods of time, during the life of the machine.
