The new Cat C4.4 engine is a compact, power-dense package that is ideal for equipment manufacturers who are looking to remove cost from their installation.
The four-cylinder, 4.4-liter engine meets EU Stage V and U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards and is available in multiple power ratings from 82 kW (110 hp) to 150 kW (200 hp) with peak torque reaching 825 Nm (609 lb-ft).
Continued technology advancements mean the new Cat C4.4 engine offers significant fuel and power density improvements, with customers benefiting from a 15 percent increase in power, 10 percent more torque and 5-10 percent reduction in fuel consumption.
“In a competitive marketplace, where machine manufacturers are eager to increase profitability, we’re working with OEMs to help them downsize and increase sales through more fuel-efficient machines,” says Matt Coleman, product director for 2.8 to 7.1-liter engines.
As part of the continued drive to lower total cost of ownership, the C4.4 includes aftertreatment upgrades to ensure transparent regeneration so machine performance is not impacted, delivering a service free system and maximum uptime.
“We’re confident in both the capability and reliability of our new platform. OEMs who are looking to downsize and increase machines sales can be reassured of durability throughout the life of their machine,” says Coleman.
Typical applications for the C4.4 engine which is built in Peterborough, UK, include compact construction equipment, mining, industrial equipment, agriculture, ground support equipment, turf and landscaping machines, and a wide range of other equipment.
Product support to keep the C4.4 engine operating at maximum efficiency is provided by the world-class global Cat dealer network. Cat dealers offer genuine Cat parts and a variety of services including scheduled maintenance and extended service coverage (ESC) to optimize engine life and lower operating costs. In addition, dealer service technicians are trained to service the entire Cat industrial diesel engine range.
