Novelties in SMOPYC 2017

Winds of change for SMOPYC. The International Show of Public Works, Construction and Mining Machinery, has thirteen months ahead which, as already marked the last Organizer Committee meeting, will be characterized by an intense commercial work to be carried out before, during and after the celebration of the Show. From 25th to 29th April, in Feria de Zaragoza.

The first of the novelties was the location of the professional meeting, which moved to the Palacio de la Aljafería, headquarters of the Parliament of Aragón. There were gathered the representatives of the most relevant companies in the sector, which form part of the Organizer Committee, and attended by the President of Feria de Zaragoza, Manuel Teruel, who recalled the importance that SMOPYC has for the Institution, as well as his “total conviction” that the next edition, that will take place from 25th to 29th April 2017, will be the “reappear of the Show”.  The meeting also served to officially present the new General Manager of Feria de Zaragoza, Rogelio Cuairán, who explained he has already had the opportunity to see “the relevance of this event for us as organizers and how essential it is to position the Show again in the place it deserves”.

The aim of Smopyc 2017 is, in the words of its Director, Luis Fueyo, to reposition the image and being in the mind of all to ensure that the “brand SMOPYC does not remain out of the sector during the three years between one and another edition”. For this reason, as explained to the members of the Organizer Committee, hard work is needed so that “SMOPYC would be more than a fair that is held every three years”. In this way, Fueyo bets to improve the positioning of the Show with actions that provide strength and more continuity to SMOPYC.

For reaching these aims, we have established two great pillars for achieving the success: exhibitors and visitors. “In this way, he said, it is essential the work we are carrying out from Feria de Zaragoza, but also the involvement of companies”. The forecast for this edition, pointed Fueyo, is to achieve an exhibition surface of  60,000 square meters.

One of the aspects that created more interest among the attendees is the starting up of an area of interactive demonstrations, called SMOPYC DEMO. In addition, a new zone for competitions and activities has been designed, as well as the continuation of the Technical Novelties Awards. Also, between the main markets where the campaign for visitors and exhibitors will be focused, SMOPYC will count with a greater presence in the South of France, North Africa, the Mediterranean Europe, South America and, of course, Portugal.

In the meeting, moreover, the attendees were informed about a new change in the Show with a commercial policy of reduced prices, in line with the sector situation, as well as a campaign of communication and promotional actions addressed to a professional profile more concrete and selected.

For dates after the celebration of SMOPYC.2017, the organization of SMOPYC has designed several strategic points that serve to energize the brand and generate greater sectoral content, which is beneficial both to the Show as well as for companies. Thus, between these projects scheduled there is one called “Cátedra SMOPYC” for students related to this field; the implementation of seminars and technical conferences or a Market Observatory, in order to reflect the reality of the companies and the sector, from the point of view of their economic activity.

The next meeting of the Organizer Committee will be on 12th May, where all the advances experienced by SMOPYC at this time will be set out. Without doubt, a clear commitment of Feria de Zaragoza to reconvert the event in the national leader and one of the main European Appointments.
